Roots regge became prominent in the late 1960(s) going into the 70(s), with singers such as Cornell Campell, Bob Marley, Burning Spear (Winston Rodney), Culture (Joseph Hill), Peter Tosh, Bunny Livingstone Wailer, Black Uhuru, Horace Andy, Max Romeo, Steel Pulse and Israel Vibration. These artist teamed up with producers such as King Tubby, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Bunny Lee and Coxsone Dodd. Most of these producer are the brains behind another sub-genre of reggae, DUB.

Reggae originated in Kingston Jamaica and it spread significantly to Europe in the 1970s gradually to America and Africa. Any one with the love of music is bound to fell in love with this topic as it explores one of the most influential genre in the world. The most interesting and important thing about reggae music is the message, “The music is in the message, the message is in the music.” Burning Spear (Mi gi dem). Reggae has the capacity to change how one views the world at large with regards to the most important aspects of its message thus equality of all mankind, world peace, empowerment of the oppressed and exploited.
